Thankful thoughts

As Valentine's Day approaches my heart seems to be overwhelmed by all the people that are in my life. One of my friends on Facebook is posting everyday what she loves about her husband. I love reading her daily posts. It dawned on me this morning that I need to tell my husband how much I love him each day. God has given me the perfect help mate, and I fail to tell him that enough. I am so thankful.

God is wonderful! It has taken me many years to realize when He is speaking to me, but it is getting easier. A few years back my marriage was really struggling. As I prayed for guidance and answers, God began to work on me! In His great wisdom, God has taken our path and put it on a course of success. Right now we are in a series on marriage, and I am in a counseling group to help me to heal in an area of my life that has been untouched for years. I am so thankful.

It has also come to my attention that it's not too late. It's never too late to heal and grow. After all this is a journey. I have shared a portion of my journey with many people, some for a short period of time others it will be lifetime, and I am just overwhelmed by the grace and love that my friends have given. They loved me when I was unlovable, hung out with me when I said I didn't want the company, and those always timely phone calls, emails and letters when I least expect them just to say "I'm thinking of you". I am so thankful.

My greatest blessing, my children. Sometimes they get the worst of me, but they have the best of me. When I look into their eyes I see just how much God's love is poured out. Not just to me, but to everyone. How can you not see God when you look at your children. For someone who was not suppose to be able to have kids (love when doctors tell you that), to now have 3 very fast growing kids, nothing amazes me more than they do. I am so thankful.

One of my greatest joys. My work. To be where I am right now in life is far beyond what I thought I would ever do. I love working in music, in radio, in ministry. God truly uses the unworthy to further His Kingdom. There are many days that I think I should pinch myself to wake up from this dream. I have been reminded, a lot, over the past few weeks that I am not to look at who I was, but who I am and who I am becoming through Christ Jesus. I am so thankful.

After taking some time off for "Mommy"hood and working for a local Nashville Christian station, Jaci has resumed her music career with more than just a new album, she has also been busy on the set of two new upcoming movies,'The Encounter' and 'Jerusalem Countdown', both planned for release this year. And as if that is not enough, Jaci is also writing a new book.

I'm in love...

We had a very busy weekend and I have a foot injury. So want to know about the busy weekend? Sure you do. Well if you are a friend on Facebook, then you already know, but for the rest of you...we have a new addition to our little family!

No...I'm not expecting, but rather we have added another 4 legged pawed pup into the mix! She is just beautiful, her name is Daisy Ruth and I'm so glad that our older dog, Parker, is showing her the ropes.

So this weekend was filled with puppy walks and a lot of Ahhh's as she was learning her new home. The kids just love her and are very attentive. Of course we picked Daisy up on Saturday and the weekend routine is not the same as the weekly routine. She is now having to adjust to school and work schedules, but I think she will fit in just fine.

Oh and the foot...well...it hurts, but I will heal...so no worries. Have a great week!

Finally Friday

and it's been an odd kind of week. Not that is was bad, just odd, like I didn't really click with what was going on at the moment I was doing it. It didn't matter if it was while at work or in a meeting, cooking dinner or cleaning up, I just felt out of sorts. I remember when I was a kid, I would say it was an "out of body" experience. Now, I don't believe that to be true in the sense that I was not in my body, but that my mind was really somewhere else, absent. To be honest, I have felt absent from myself most of this week.

I don't know if you have ever felt that way or not. Maybe it's just me. Hard to say. Have you ever felt like you are just going through the motions of life? Have you ever felt disconnected? I know that I have found myself reflecting on my past and decisions that I have made over the years. That may have something to do with this temporary feeling of "not really being here". I can best describe the feeling as "Where the Conscience and Subconscience Collide".

My agenda today...enjoy my air shift, send out my reports, go watch my son's "Wax Museum" at school today and then go home, and spend some quiet time to reflect. Sounds like a plan.

Middle of the week...

and I feel like it should be Friday! My time feels like it has been put in the DVD machine and was put on FFWD! Sometimes I wonder if I schedule too much of my time to allow for me to enjoy it. I have to admit that I have tried to go without a schedule, and things fell through the cracks very quickly. My schedule is not a safety net, I have determined. Instead it is my lifeline to maintain balance in a very unbalanced world. I have to also admit that I love love love when there's a cancellation in my schedule, because then I have unexpected free time to take care of a task that has been put on the back burner, or time to just go and spend time with just me.

One goal that I have this year is to schedule more downtime so I can spend my time doing things with my family. Of course that means that there must be a plan in place and that means I have to...you guessed it...schedule time for it, and save save save. A family that lives on what they make must be diligent in saving money for the emergencies and for the fun things. My husband made an uncanny revelation the other day. He said that he can tell me what he is doing 6 out of 7 day of his week, give or take 10 minutes. That tells me that we have fallen into a routine that has become mundane. I hope at the end of this year, he won't be able to say this same statement!

With all that being said, I really find it hard to believe that January is already close to an end and in less than 3 weeks I will be on my way to Orlando with my daughter and her entire chorus class for a convention. I hope that we can mix a little fun between the singing and the classes. The closer it gets, the more I am looking forward to the chaos of a school trip. I just hope that at the end of this year that I have accomplished a couple of new things. 1) Closure 2) Adventure 3) Spiritual Growth in the area of peace. I suppose you could say that these are my New Year's Resolutions, but in truth I would say that these are just my quarterly goals. I have many more that lie ahead.

I'll finish with this. My daughter just asked me what it is that I'm blogging about. I told her, time. She proceeds to ask me why it is that I'm blogging about time if I'm always saying that time goes so fast. I simply answered her by saying so when I look back on this post, I will remember this moment in time and smile. That is a comforting thought. Enjoy your life, enjoy your time and enjoy your family.

I don't like...

migraine's! They are a real pain. I don't get headaches often. Actually, I rarely get them, but when I do, they are crippling. This migraine began on Thursday. I thought I was just tired and didn't give the headache much thought. Friday, well it was lingering but again, I figured it would go away after some coffee. The pain lingered and increased over the day and by the end of Friday I knew that it was a migraine. I still did some things over the weekend. We jumped back into karate. I really enjoy karate. After that, home and did nothing. Yesterday I did go to church. The headache still pounding, but I was not going to let the pain stop me from worship. It was a good service too, so I'm glad I made it.

New week, headache is almost completely gone, and I'm looking forward to this first full week of the new year.

It's Friday!

And I am so ready to hit the door and go home. So the week in review...this was the last week for the kids to be home for Christmas break. They went back yesterday and they are loving the fact that they are only in school for 2 days this week. They are not going to enjoy a full week next week.

As for me...I am glad to be getting back to a normal routine. Yesterday I went right back to a full force schedule and by time I got home last night it was after 9pm and I was exhausted! People who get up @ 0400 need to not be going until after 9pm. Oh well...lesson learned.

Tomorrow it is back to karate and then we are going to see about downgrading on the old cell phones. I mean really...I don't need to be that connected! OK, that's it for me...have a great weekend!

Is a schedule...

a bad thing? I don't think so. Actually...I think I do much better with a set schedule. My problem is my "feelings". Even if I know that I am suppose to do certain things at certain times...if I don't fell like it I will find an excuse or reason not to get it done. For example. I started back in August a series on 'Being Prepared'. My intentions were good, my execution was poor. So that series of blog posts got put on the back burner...EPIC FAIL!

Should I resurrect the posts and finish them up? I'm not sure. Maybe, but I think I have moved on past it now. So my goal is simple...don't do a series...do one post with all the info. So if you follow my blog and want to know what I'm posting about when...then you'll appreciate my (probably poor) attempt at a schedule.

MONDAY: If I blog...it will be about upcoming events or what we as a family did over the weekend (sure why not!)

TUESDAY: New Releases and anything of interest when it comes to music news!

WEDNESDAY: Wisdom Wednesdays...my goal is to inspire with scripture

THURSDAY: Random...I do believe I do need a day of randomness. Take this blog for example ;-)

FRIDAY: Week in Review...This is for anything that I may have missed or that I find of interest.

So this is just one of my many goals. I am not making any promises at success, only to try.

Out with the Old...

and in with the new. At least that is what we try to accomplish with the start of each new year. I have decided to not add any new "New Years Resolutions". Instead I am going to stay the course and keep working on what I started last year. I did not reach the goals I had set for myself last year so why try to add on to the ones I already have to finish.

So here's a wrap of 2011...

JAN: New Year with only 1 car

FEB: Saving Money for another car & praying that we will be patient on the Lord

MAR: God has answered our prayers with the gift of a used van

APR: We started P90X

MAY: The kids finished school and are all promoted to the next grade

JUN: Hung out in Vegas for my birthday with some of the most amazing people on the planet...my Kadena Oki Peeps!

JUL: The kids have been hanging out with the Grandparents down at Wild Adventure theme park since the end of June

AUG: Back to school and back to meetings...ahhhh fall! :-)

SEP: Bumpy road while trying to get my barrings

OCT: Enjoyed Halloween with the kids

NOV: Truly Thankful for all of God's Goodness

DEC: May not be much, but best Christmas in a long long time and Mike & I celebrated 16 years of marriage

And here's the Goals for 2012...

Still working on those last 20 to 30 pounds and yes they come off this year! If my friend Amy can do it then so can I!

Be more attentive at work. I just want to do better at what I am so blessed to do.

I would love to be more active with my kids. This plan is already in action - I'm excited about this year!

Get everyone's exams done. This is already in act. All appointments but dental are made!

Replenish the said savings account. I need to stay the course on this plan and not let myself get derailed!

So there you have it...a quick review of my year and what I'd like to accomplish this upcoming year. What about you? Did you accomplish any of your goals that you set for yourself last year? If not...are you resetting? I hope so. Never give up!

Tuesday Tilt

I'm already running behind! Last night the girl had dance rehearsal until 8:30pm so that made for a late evening. I know that we as parents sacrifice for our children so I didn't mind the late hour for class. My Monday however had many other little changes that causes a person who is really OCD to kind of flip out a bit. And I know that I don't need to "flip out" (only in my head) because God is in control - of all of it! So I should not mind these small changes that I have to work around and make sure that everyone gets to where they need to be! I had jokingly told Mike the other day that I should start a new business as a "Scheduler". I know that there's a market for this type of business, but really...I don't know if I could handle everyone else's small fires when I can barely handle my own. So instead I decided to just concentrate on thinning out what's on my plate (even more) and focus on less have to's and more want to's. We'll see how that goes.My life feels like it's being tossed about right now, which means that change is coming. I'm not sure what that will entail (do any of us though). I just pray that I am strong enough to get through these changes (whatever they are) and come out w/ my head held high. I know...this blog is really RANDOM...but that's how I role ;-) I just needed to get all this "stuff" out of my head so I can focus on the show and the rest of my not so crazy, crazy day. ~Peace & Blessings~Jen

Manic Monday

It has been a few weeks since I have posted anything about my journey. I guess it's because there's so much going on that I just have not had time to stop and think about it all to put it down. I fee horrible about that because if I don't "write" it down, I'm afraid that I'm going to forget about the small things that happen that bring me joy.The kids have been doing a lot of activities and have had a good time with friends over the past couple of weeks. Of course Halloween has come and gone. The kids and I dressed up this year and had a blast running around w/ friends and I loved just letting the kids go around and have fun while I just watched them. What a great season of motherhood I'm in!

Basketball season is now at an end too. The boys had a great run, but in the end...they did not win the tournament. What I loved about the whole thing is they held their heads high and we not sore losers. I'm so thankful for that good attitude. I believe they are going to be exceptional young men.

I know that Thanksgiving is right around the corner. I will post a seperate blog about all that is going on...so much on my mind and I'm just not sure how to get it all out. So here's a quick update of the never ending never slowing down life that I'm in at the moment. ~Peace & Blessings~Jen

Time is not

my friend and that has been made apparent by my lack of blogs over the past 3 weeks. I owe a few blogs on Preparation and I will get back to that series to finish it up. My apologize for the delay. I will get back to the preparation post later today.The first week of October was spent gearing up for our annual Fall Concert. That was followed up by meetings and family affairs that took me away from even thinking about posting blogs or writing. I am also going through a self reflection time in my life. When I begin on this type of journey, I tend to stay inwards and not really reveal what is going on until I am certain I know the direction in which I am suppose to go. And right now...I am very uncertain of the direction of my life.

The second week was full of basketball games, meetings, FCA's Fields of Faithand the Care Net Banquet. That was a very nice event and I'm so thankful to be able to take part in the event. And this week...well I'm just trying to catch my breath.

To end on a high note. Basketball season is going well for the boys, all of the kids got high marks on their school report cards and I am continuing to enjoy my work at the radio station.

I have to say that I have a yearning right now to go on a retreat. Just me. I am feeling very convicted to do this, but I'm not sure when or how to make that happen.Maybe go to the mountains for a few days. I have not seen the mountains in many years.

Yes, this is more of a personal blog, but it's my journey, and I think I'm making up some of the rules as I go along. Thanks for hanging on with me.Jen

Weekly Wrap

Amongst the Facebook posts and the Twitter tweets, you'd think I'd be all out of words! Not really...I have found solace in expressing life through my words. I often believe that too many people hold way too much in, and often do not speak enough. Besides, I know if I don't keep a journal, I will forget, and there's just too many good things in life to remember. You know what is really cool (and I learned this not too long ago)...Kings kept a daily record of what went on in their life and they would often ask for a reference from the historian so they could recall an event or person at any given time. I thought that was cool. This week has had its moments of sheer happiness and of course it has had moments of doubts and frustrations. At home it's been full tilt as Mike has been working on a side job and catering. Work at work is still pretty slow. And he has still been having trouble sleeping so he's been very tired. That in itself is a whole other blog. So let's go to this past weeks events...Last Saturday the kids and I went to the Union Avenue concert at BCA. It was a great time of fellowship, and all the guys were just great to meet and have a great heart for the Lord God.

(Johnathon from Union Avenue)Sunday was a great day of worship and as we are coming to the end on the end of times, I have to say that I am encouraged in knowing that not only is there a purpose for this life, but there is a purpose for my life, and I only want to share that good news with others!

Had a great meeting with BNI this week...I love BNI! So much fun and I love meeting all these wonderful people that call this community home. Wednesday Bart and I went to a chamber luncheon. That was nice, different, but nice. There always seems to be an agenda...why is that?My boys...ahhh...my boys. They had there first basketball game last night. Since there's not enough players for a full roster, CIA SportsClub (http://www.ciasportsclub.net) has made 4 teams of 6 players, with 3 players on the floor at a time. It seemed to work. My boys are on the same team, and it was cool to watch them play together. It's the first time that they have been on a team together where Lil'Man actually wanted to play! For me..that is a victory! The boys team (the "black" team) won last night. But what was the most important thing about that win was they did it together as a TEAM!

When do we Prepare?

Two weeks ago I began to really look at what it means to be prepared. God has really spoken to me about getting prepared, being ready and what it all really means. So last week I looked at Who prepares and today we are going to look at When. So when do we prepare? I suppose that is a very valid question. It seems like the days are filled with distractions. There's family and work that can take us off course of being prepared, but there are bigger distractions that I want to look at today. I want to look at the what we do to avoid God and avoid preparation. There's everything from video games, to Facebook (yes...I went there). There's the television, and of course our own selfish desires that take us away from God and His love. When we allow the distractions to take over, we are no longer preparing for what God has for us. God really does have our best interests in mind and at heart. So why do we allow these temporary trappings take us away from Him, the One who LOVES us more than anyone else? When we do not prepare our hearts for God, we loose out on more than peace and joy, but we miss out on sharing God with others around us.

We really begin preparing at birth. I know that may sound odd to you, but truly, you were created for a reason, a purpose.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says, "For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."

God knows the Plans He has for YOU! What good news! God has prepared you and for you before you where ever born! King David gives Praise to God for His preparing him before he was even born, and for when he was born in the Psalms.

Psalm 139:13, "For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s womb."

Psalm 71:6, "By You I have been sustained from my birth; You are He who took me from my mother’s womb; My praise is continually of You."

Psalm 22:10, "Upon You I was cast from birth; You have been my God from my mother’s womb."

Psalm 22:9, "Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb; You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts."

What a comfort to know that God prepared for us before we could even begin to comprehend who He is!Even before we had the understanding that we are sinners, God had planned and prepared for our salvation. Jesus Christ has been with us since the beginning and was prepared from the start.

John 1:1-5,"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it."

So when do we begin to prepare? When we recognize, realize, acknowledge and know that we are sinners, saved only by GRACE. We begin to prepare when we humbly go before God and ask for forgiveness. We begin to prepare when Jesus, the Messiah, the Christ enters into our life and begins a great work in us for His glory. As mundane as John 3:16 may seem, it is so powerful. Take a moment and read John 3:16-18 with fresh eyes.

"16 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. 18 He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

Prepardness Pt. 2

Last week I began discussing what it means to "Be Prepared" and what is it that we are really preparing ourselves for. I had to prepare for this next segment because I was not sure which way to take you. So do we discuss the Who, When, Where, Why, or What. As you see I am going back to basics with the 5 "W's" of journalism. I think over the next 5 posts we should hit on each one of the W's. That means we are looking at the "Who" (and I don't mean the band!).Who actually prepares and who are we preparing ourselves for? These are two very important questions to ask ourselves. If we do not truly believe that others take the time prepare, then why should we, ourselves prepare. As I looked at this I really began to wonder about this and I came up with only one answer. EVERYONE actually prepares. Think about it. When you get up in the morning, what is the first thing you do? Get up, go in and get cleaned up, brush your teeth, make your bed (sometimes), get ready (prepared) for the day. Your daily routine is your way of getting prepared for your day that is full of preparation. As I listed those few (but important) elements to your day, I left one very important element out. Do you know what that is? Your prayer life! Not only must you prepare for your day with the physical routine of the everyday, but you must prepare yourself spiritually...EVERYDAY! So we have answered the first question, Who gets prepared. Now to answer the second questions, how do YOU get prepared. You already know how to prepare yourself the physical day, do you know how to prepare yourself for your spiritual (your mental and your emotional) day?

Ephesians 6: 10-21 shows us how to do just that! "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. 14 Stand firm therefore, HAVING GIRDED YOUR LOINS WITH TRUTH, and HAVING PUT ON THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, 15 and having shod YOUR FEET WITH THE PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE; 16 in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 And take THE HELMET OF SALVATION, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18 With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, 19 and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. 21 But that you also may know about my circumstances, how I am doing, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, will make everything known to you.

So the answer is two-fold. When you pray, you are preparing time with God and you are preparing yourself against your enemy, Satan, who comes to destroy you. My prayer is that this will either remind you to get prepared or that is will be the beginning of teaching you how to become prepared on a daily basis and WHO it is you are preparing yourself for. ~Peace & Blessings~Jen

Preparation

Last night as I was finally settling for bed (late night), I was wrestling with a thought that would not let go. It was one word...Preparation. God was revealing to me what so many of us struggle with, being prepared. As I tried to doze myself to sleep I had probably 20 different thoughts on preparation, so I want to get these thoughts on paper and IF I can stay true to form, I will touch on these points over the next couple of blogs.What do we prepare for? Well let's think about this...we prepare for marriage, for children, for school, for graduation, for vacation, for retirement and possibly for a rainy day. As an "On Air" Personality and Public Speaker, I have to be prepared before I speak (we should all do that though, shouldn't we!). What about salvation? Do you prepare for your salvation?

I want to dig into this idea of preparing and being prepared so if you would indulge me, I'd greatly appreciate it. My thoughts on preparation are still a little scattered, but yet very precise. My desire is to help you understand what it means to be prepared, for eternity, for God's Will in your life, but it all begins with salvation.In Exodus 23:20, God reveals that He is preparing a place for Moses.

“Behold, I am going to send an angel before you to guard you along the way and to bring you into the place which I have prepared. -Exodus 23:20

God is preparing! What a revelation! Again you see God's preparation in the Gospel (Good News) of John. John 14:2-3, "In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also

.There it is, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, going to prepare a our eternal dwelling place, for ALL who believe in Him! And again you see God's preparation in the Victory. Revelation say in Revelation 12:6,

"Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days."

Ten Years Ago...

was a day that changed our lives forever. I have read a few blogs today that have reflected the thoughts and feelings about today, ten years ago, and I know that the very thought of reflection is still very real and raw for many.

If you are new to my blog, and don't know much about me, let me tell you a little of who I am. I grew up as a military brat. My Dad is retired Air Force and I grew up on an always "ready alert". Not because we were always "at war", but to be honest, my Dad joined the Air Force in 1976, and we, as a nation, were just coming out of the Vietnam War. I was just a child and only really remember what I've read in history class. Growing up in the military is great, we moved all the time and I always had a sense of security. I never really thought much of the "evil" that is in the world because everyone I knew was defending good against evil.

In 1988 my Dad was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Our first (and only) overseas assignment. We spend 6 years there, and to this day it is "home". It was in Okinawa that I was introduced to the other military branches, and that is where I first understood war. I was there when the wall came down in Germany. I had many friends that were there. I was there when I had friends deployed to places of scrimmages, and it was there when "Desert Storm" initially happen in 1990 and a multitude of my friends were deployed for the desert with an uncertainty of when they would (or if they would) return. Since that time I have been very aware of the threat that is posed to us on a daily basis. I don't live in fear, but I am aware of the risks that are taken daily for my very freedom.

Since 1995 I have not been around a military instillation as I had when I was growing up. I don't live on base, and I get a feeling of honor and nostalgia when I see a person in uniform. I know that world and understand it better than most. So, on September 11, 2001, when my Mother called me to tell me to turn on the TV, I was in so much shock, that all I could do is say No, No, No, wait, this can't really be happening. It was so surreal. I was in my living room, of my first non military home, with my daughter at my feet and my new born son on my hip. I stood there, just watching the first tower burn, and then as the second plane dived into the second tower, I thought I was going to throw up, or faint, or both. I really could not believe my own eyes. I just wept..or rather cried uncontrollably for all those people, people that I had never met, or would never meet on this side of heaven. I thought about all the lives that were taken in just that brief moment, and wondered, to myself, how many knew who Jesus was, and if they were saved from eternal damnation. Then I heard of the other planes. 4 all together. So many lost.In the 10 years since I have seen many changes occur in our country. Doubt, Superstition, Hatred, Higher Security seem to be on the top of the list. Yes, they were terrible people that did a terrible thing. Yes, I believe that what happened was wrong and unjustifiable. But I believe even more in a loving, forgiving and healing God. I believe that His word holds true and that we are to continue to love one another. Mark 12:31 says, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.” and God's word says in Matthew 6:14-15, " For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions."My prayer is for us to find peace and forgiveness as we continue to heal as a nation, as a people. Labor Day

is upon us. Really? This year has really gone by fast and I just wonder if I'm really doing all that I am called to do. There is a nagging feeling in the pit of my soul that keeps saying that there is more to life than what I am living. I know there is more and then when I read blogs about people that are making real changes in their lives, and I wonder what holds me back.

Just like anyone and everyone else...I am full of excuses. Let's be real for just a moment. We do what we want to do far more often than we should. I am just as guilty as the next person. I know what I should do, and yet, as the Apostle Paul says, I do what I know I ought not to do. It takes real discipline to be a disciple of Christ and it takes real discipline to live life according to God. I am afraid that I have failed miserably and I would love to turn it around and be that person who gets it all together. I'm not sure if I will, but I'd like to try.

I know that you are suppose to make "resolutions" either at the beginning of the year or maybe the 1st of the month, but I am breaking from tradition. It's Monday. It's Labor Day. Why not make a fresh start today? I know what my heart's cry is, so I am going to (once again)start taking steps in the direction of being more of a disciple of Christ, and to be more healthy. I am inspired by those who completely change their lives for the better and that have a support team rooting them on. Will you be my support team? Will you pray for me, encourage me and hold me accountable as I work on the next steps of doing the right thing vs. the Jen thing?

With a new month..

on the horizon, I have decided it's time to have a new look on life. There has been a lot of interruptions at my house this past week, but I would have to say that for the most part they have been good.

I have to say that I am thankful for all the prayers that have been lifted on my son Thomas' behalf. I did not realize how serious cellulitis was and I'm thankful that we caught the infection at an early enough stage. He is recovering, but is still in some pain.

Yesterday Mike and my Stepfather-in-law put our new sink yesterday. My in-laws had upgraded their kitchen and we were the recipients of their sink. It is nice, and deep, and I really like it!

Earlier this week, my favorite painter was over and we finally have our bathroom painted a beautiful blue! I'm so excited to have one more room done!

OK, so most of this is trivial, but I have been feeling like I've been in limbo lately, so these little things have had a big impact on me. I'm hoping that I can really focus on my goals for the month of September. Have you ever done this...set your goals and within 48 hours...they are lost for "next month"? I feel like that has been my life this past year. It seems like there is no progress, but I know that is a lie. I can look back and see all that God has done and has provided. So this month, I want to just give back to God, give Him more of my time and to allow Him to work on me more. I already feel like I've been in the fire, but I have not let the impurities out yet, and now is the time to skim those impurities out.

I know this is really random, and that's ok...life is random. I hope that you have a great week, and I pray that God will reveal more of Himself to me this week.

Home today...

with one of the children. It happens about this time every year. Thomas (my oldest son) develops an upper respiratory/sinus infection. His cough has increased in frequency and intensity. So with that said, I called his health care provider and he has an appointment this evening, but we are on breathing treatments all day today. My second most important job is Mom (My first is Wife) and so when one of the kids are sick, I'm home with them. It is actually really nice to be able to stay home when I need to and I have a job that allows me to do it. I'm very fortunate.

So of course I slept in this morning while Thomas slept beside me. I didn't know it at the time, but my lovely husband put the boy in the bed first thing. Ahhh...to cuddle :-)

As you can tell we are up and about now...coffee in hand (my second cup) and reading inspiring blogs while the boy watches a movie (check out http://www.terilynneu.com/). I am always challenged when I read great blogs from women that I know are chasing after Jesus.

At times I feel very inadequate to be very honest with you. Am I in the Word enough? Do I understand enough? Even more, am I really qualified to do what I do for His Kingdom, being a morning co-host on the radio and speaking to women groups, or teaching the Bible?

These are my thoughts this morning as I finish my second cup of coffee and begin to wonder what to make for breakfast. Today, since I have some home time, I believe I'll pick back up in Ezekiel. Then to finish up the first part of "What is Gods Will for My Life?". Thanks for your time and prayers. Please pray that we've caught this infection in time for a speedy recovery.

Getting into the routine..

of school being back in session. So far so good. I'm not sure if I have any real expectations for the kids this year, other than doing there best, but 2 of them have brought home a couple of papers with less than stellar marks. I however, am no alarmed. I know that it's hard the first couple of weeks to get back into the groove of things, and I am sure that I will see improvement.

Sunday was the start of children's ministries and I have all 3 kids involved. My youngest, however, does not want to be a part of anything. Can I just tell you that I'm not giving him a choice.

Sunday was also Logan's birthday (he is the youngest). We had a few friends and family over and it was nice. I like having the house filled with kids and laughter and noise, as long as it's in short spurts. Honestly I love the quiteness of my house in the middle of the afternoon.

So this is the last year that I have a child in the single digits. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but here it is...this time next year...they will all be 10 and older. I'm so thankful for the time I have with them, but my youngest is official half grown (sort of...well according to the US government).

So here's a few pictures of the celebration, and I hope that as he continues to grow and mature that he will remember these good times too.

I am so excited about today! Not only is it New Release Tuesday, but there's a plethora of new music out! So I am going to share my favorites with you today, but you can get the full list @ www.newreleasetuesday.com.

First and foremost...MIKESCHAIR! I remember when I first met Mike, Sam, Jon, Jessie and Nate. It was at 90.7 WAY Radio's Beach concert. They had just released "Other Side" and it hit home not just to me, but for so many others. Here it is 3 years later and I'm so excited about their new album "Beautiful Life". I know you'll enjoy it as much as I do!

Secondly there's Downhere. The boys from Canada are back and better than ever. With there hit song "Let Me Rediscover You" their lyrics are just as strong as ever. I know that you will love "On the Alter of Love".

Ready or not...

it's time to get back to the school routines. It has been a good but strange summer break. The first part of the summer was so smokey that you could not enjoy the outdoors so much and then their was 2 weeks of storms followed by triple digit temperatures that left you wanting nothing but air conditioning.

I have to say that the kids had an enjoyable "stay-cation" this year. They have been to Wild Adventures several times over the summer (thanks to some really cool grandparents) and they played a lot of Wii.

So today is middle school open house. I'm excited for my daughter. She's going to be in 7th grade this year. I think that this is going to be a good year for her. She has adjusted to middle school nicely (far cry from her mother) and she has even decided to try for tennis (if they have a team this year). Tennis. I never saw that one coming. She is also going to go back to dance. She has decided on ballet and I am hoping that she enjoys it like she did when she was 7. I'm very proud of my daughter. I don't think I could have asked for more.

Tomorrow is elementary open house. This year the boys are in 3rd and 5th grade. So this is the last year for my older son. I know that he is excited. I am too, but at the same time, I'm a little sad. I have been at the elementary school for 9 years! WOW! I have 3 more years including this one, but I can see it quickly coming to an end. I love our elementary school. I love the teachers, the staff, the administrators. They are such a great team. So this year the boys have decided the following...the youngest wants to do "nothing" this year. I don't think that will last. If nothing else I want him involved with one group. I do believe I may have to make him. I know it's important to be involved with life and I don't want him to miss out on opportunities. My older son has decided on K-Kids (Kiwana Kids) and Basketball. I may get him involved with the science club this year. He is very good.

If they stick with just these few activities and focus on what they love, I think that this year will be calmer than last year. Only time will tell.

As for me, well I have enjoyed simplifying my life a little more. I am beginning to teach clarinet from home. I have decided to focus on working with home school students. That is the only "new" thing on my schedule, however, it's 2 hours a day, 4 days a week, and it is before my children get home from school. With the way my work schedule is now, I am able to have meetings early, and then be home to teach. God is so good to allow me to do this, and I am humbled.

So that's about it...for now.

Have you ever..

started a project or an email and then had to stop only to find it unfinished or in the "draft", and you could not remember why you even began? That has happened to me more than once. I'm sure that it will happen again (and probably in the near future).

I have been trying to memorize Psalm 100 for the past few months now and to be honest with you...I'm still struggling with verse 1. I keep forgetting. Is that normal? I don't think so. I think it is me adjusting to the next "chapter of my life". I am trying to embrace this change, but like many people...I don't really like these kinds of changes.

School starts back in 2 weeks, I begin teaching clarinet to students and I will be gaining an extra hour of work time. Put all this together and I am excited, but tired with all the "changes". So how do I embrace these changes?

Knowing the this is all part of God's plan for this life that I am living. So...maybe it is okay that I'm not remembering everything.

New beginning...

of a new week. I have had some real heavy deep thoughts over the week and wondering where it is that God is carrying me to. I feel a difference coming, but I have yet to know what it is. I have to be honest with you...I'm a bit scared to let you know these things, only because to many of you, it sounds crazy. The fact of the matter is, I can always tell when a major change in my life is about to take place.

A few things have already happened. A close friend of the family lost her brother Thursday and then her husband was rushed into emergency surgery on Sunday morning. I am praying for them both. My heart is heavy for my family too. I know that there is a change that is going to take place; however, I don't know what that is yet.

I have also had this longing in my heart to just sit and be with God. I don't feel like I have had enough time to spend in HIS presence. I did wake up early this morning to read His Word and to pray. I'm not scared of where I am going, I can just feel that the change is coming. So my heart is heavy today, as it was yesterday. The things that should be "important" to me are not important right now. There is an urgency in my heart and I must be obedient to that urgent calling.

My desire is to be the best person I can be for Christ and to honor Him with this life that He has given me. That's all I have for now.

How on earth can I...

be so tired? I feel like I have done less in this week than in the past two weeks, but I am exhausted! Is that from the early hours of being at work or the fact that it is just to hot outside to really enjoy any physical activity? I'm not sure but I know that I am completely zapped of any energy.

Case in point, the past couple of days when I get home...I start reading my book and the next thing you know...I'm asleep on the couch! I am not one to take naps in the middle of the day so I find that to be very disturbing.

I know that tomorrow is my last "Off" day. Bart will be back to work on Monday and VBS is finished up tomorrow. So maybe just maybe I'll sleep til the day is long on Saturday. Well one can hope ;-)

I feel a bad for not blogging sooner but to be honest, once I get home I don't even want to turn my computer on. Yesterday I took the kids over to my friends house so they could play and so I could get some much needed "girl time". My friend asked me how my book was coming along and I had to tell her that it is not coming along. I have only one chapter started (not even completed). This question has me thinking...
what am I doing with my time? Am I really serious about writing this book? Am I serious about writing? To be honest I guess I'd have to ask myself, Am I serious about anything at all? I feel like I'm just floating through this life. It's a feeling of passing by...I'm a spectator in this backward crazy world and I'm just ready for my "real life" to begin. Have you ever felt like that?

OK so I'm sure that this just sounds like the ramblings of a very tired woman, but this is how my mind works...always has, always will. But at least now I have a peace about my constant distress. Off I go into a zombie state of mind so until next time...

What Happens In Vegas...Part 4...The Finale

First let me apologize for not finishing this last entry sooner, but trying to get back into the swing of things didn't work out just as I planned. I will blog about that a bit later...

So the wrap of Vegas...It's Saturday, and I have to say it was a nice start of the day to just relax and take my time to get ready to go anywhere. Mike and I met up with a few friends over at Hooters. While we waited we grabbed breakfast. It was good, but nothing to really write home about. A little gambling (Mike not me) and a lot of conversation was on the agenda. Then we strolled over to Carnival once again to relax with other Alum.

Now I can't say that I don't blame Larry for taking the lead to head indoors, but I was not so keen at first about heading into the "I Love This Place" to hang out. But we did, and ordered a bit of food. Not bad for a little pick me up. The conversation was lively as we met up with other Alum and just relaxed and laughed to loud and to often for some of the folks around us! I guess we still have it in us...

Time to go get ready for the evening at Treve over at Cesar's Forums. As we finished up a terrific night at Treve the festivities were beginning to take a bit of a toll on me. I honestly cannot remember the last time I went that long with friends without thinking about getting up in the morning for work or for the kids. I was taken back by the love and thankfulness of all the Alum as I was given a "Thank You" gift from those who appreciated the help I gave Larry...the "Man of the Hour" for all the hard work and time he put into this reunion. I was so surprised, and truly grateful.

The whole time I had been to Vegas, I had really wanted to see the water show at Bellagio. I missed it the first time I had gone and I did not want to miss it again. So Mike and I excused ourselves as people continued to take pictures and made plans for another (the last) after party. We made it over to the Bellagio just moments before the show began. It was beautiful and I tried to take as many pictures as I could while listening to the opera that was part of the perfectly timed fountains!

I have to be honest...Mike looked like he was about to fall asleep standing up, and I am sure that I didn't look much better. It was time to skip out on the fun and head up for a decent night sleep. Next thing you know...it's time to pack up, hit
the last buffet and head over to the airport. The Flamingo buffet was really really good. Fresh made crepe's, fruit forever and delicious shrimp. It was one of my better meals and so glad we went. I am not big on buffet's but it was good, and we had a view of the flamingo's outside..so it was a win win.

Last part of the trip was our crazy ride to the airport. I must say that the driver we had was WOW...I'm not sure how else to describe this has been cabby now turned shuttle driver in Vegas. He was hyper, not sure of his directions and over the line with the traffic. It made the need for prayer very necessary. We did arrive safely (of course) and had no problems on the way home.

Ahhh...home sweet home...until we headed out again the following week...but that, that is another blog.

What Happens In Vegas...Part 3

Dinners and after parties were abound over the quick week in Las Vegas. What was amazing to me was how excited everyone was to see each other. Now, as I have said before, most of us thought we'd never see each other again, so the excitement was not contained!

My dear friend, Larry, and I hung out much of the day on Friday taking care of last minute reunion details, such as paying for the events. Not me...Larry!! He was the "Man of the Hour" or event as it were! Taking care of all the dinner plans and scoping out the spots was a lot of fun.

Once we finished up in the nice "air pumped/air conditioned" casino's we headed outdoors to a Carnival to hang out with some other OkiBrats! What a blast from the past as we sat back and listened to the WHIPITS(the Band of the Day)! They were a '80s tribute band that had a crazy show and great "classic" songs! I was quickly reminded of the Peaceful Love concerts in Okinawa! We had a terrific time!

Dinner at Max Brenner's was fantastic and the food was good too. For once, the food (for a foodie mind you)took second stage. All the talking and laughing and picture taking took center stage. Now let me just tell you this...if chocolate is your weakness...then you'll over do it at Max Brenner's! That place oozes chocolate!

So as a wrap of Friday we all took off for Revolution, a dance club at the Mirage. That place was crazy loud and so much fun! Watching everyone dance around and talk more, laugh more, and take more pictures...I was again reminded of all the fun we all had together in Okinawa. I have to say this though...I have not been to a night club in so long that I was WIPED OUT by time we left...not to mention...my shoe broke that night! Yeah...walking around Vegas (even just across the street) barefoot is not such a smart move.

So what to look for in Part 4...the quiet side and wrap up...

What Happens in Vegas...Part 2

Our trip to Las Vegas was very routine. I have not flown in 6 years so any new changes that TSA has implemented were beyond me! 3oz of liquid in a clear zip lock bag that must be quart size...LOL...is that really going to stop someone? Shoes off and then proceed to get scanned (which I prefer over the physical "body search"). Now what gets me is that people in front of me still did not "follow directions"! I felt like asking them if they were still in elementary school...being taught how to follow directions. As a parent I expect my children to follow directions; so be default I expect adults to do the same and not hold up the progression of getting through security!

Once we arrive to our destination I was so excited! So close to seeing friends from Okinawa! So here it is...my birthday! My 39th birthday as a matter of fact and I am going to celebrate it in Vegas...not even a dream come true...just very fortunate for the timing of it all! As Mike and I met up with my friend (and brother) Larry, we were trying to get a taxi to head up to the site and the gentleman at the door offered us a limo instead for a very reasonable price! So why not...it's MY BIRTHDAY! Off we go on my first limo ride -> in Vegas -> with my husband and long time friend! Scratch one off the "Bucket List"!

We head up to the Palms hotel to the very well known Ghost Bar and slowly all the Oki Peeps that were in town began to come up and hang out. It was beautiful...the skyline, the breeze and the calm atmosphere. I don't think I could have asked for a better birthday! Laughter and stories abound as people began to arrive and I just loved seeing so many people...those I knew well, those I "knew" and those who left the island before I arrived...it was all so EPIC (as my kids say).

As the buzz of the reunion got underway I began to realize that I have been planning for this moment for 2 years! 2 years! I don't think I've ever planned for anything that far in advance, but I am so glad I did this time! Thanks to all for making Vegas so memorable.

What happens in Vegas...Part 1

What a great trip to Las Vegas, NV. Now I am going to preface this by saying that I am not a gambler and I do not enjoy super huge crowds of people. I came to Vegas to see friends from Okinawa, Japan that I have not seen in 20 years! Now a reunion may be “normal” for most people, but if you are a DoDDS student or military brat that is not the case.

I remember when I graduated high school I really thought that I’d never see any of my classmates again. Oh, it wouldn’t be from lack of trying, but the truth of the matter is, technology was land line phones, TTY, and phone cards…unless you wanted to write a letter. So I really thought that I would never see the majority of my classmates and friends again. I graduated in 1990 and I don’t even think the internet was known to the world. I know for a fact there were no cell phones (unless you count those HUGE satalite phones that people carried around to “look cool”).

Thanks to the internet, facebook, and email, many of us “Okibrats” have not only gotten back in touch, but have even seen each other again! Now there are some who live in the Far East, others on the West Coast, Mid West, North East and, like me, the South. What is so great about us is one thing…time is not a factor when we get together. We just pick up where we left off. It does not matter who’s married, divorce, has lots of money, or has no money…we are Oki Brats and that is all that matters. So that is why I have gone to Las Vegas, and I am so glad that I did! It is a trip that I will not soon forget, and time was not a factor. We hung out, we listened to loud over the top music, we ate, we drank, we shared stories and asked about those that have lost touch.

So this is the start of Vegas. My husband, Mike, and I were there for 5 days, so there is much to share, too much for just one post, so sit back and enjoy what few ever do…reliving life with those who live life.

What's your perspective?

This was sent by a dear friend of mine and I just love it! Enjoy this perspective in life and then...go eat a piece of chocolate!

Some "perspectives" are worth sharing!

A young lady confidently walked around the room while leading and explaining stress management to an audience; with a raised glass of water, and everyone knew she was going to ask the ultimate question, 'half empty or half full?'..... she fooled them all... "How heavy is this glass of water?", she inquired with a smile.

Answers called out ranged from 8 oz. to 20 oz.

She replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter. It depends on how long I hold it. If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance. In each case it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes." She continued, "and that's the way it is with stress. If we carry our
burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on."

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again. When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden - holding stress longer and better each time practiced. So, as early in the evening as you can, put all your burdens down. Don't carry them through the evening and into the night... pick them up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment. Relax, pick them up later after you've rested. Life is short. Enjoy it and the now 'supposed' stress that you've conquered!"

2 * Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

3 * Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

4 * Drive carefully... It's not only cars that can be recalled by their Maker..

The calendar says...

That today is the first day of summer. I find this to be to my amusement since it's been "summer" at my house since May 27! My calendar also says that it's 2 days before my birthday and 1 day before I get on a plane and fly to Las Vegas to see my friends from Okinawa!

My "official" holiday begins after my BNI meeting today. The kids are also going to get a bit of a holiday, but I can't share that with you yet...because if my oldest decides to read this...it'll ruin the surprise.

I plan on posting many a pictures and doing my best to tweet and leave posts on facebook...I may even blog once or twice while I'm there...who knows. I may be too busy catching up to even bother with a blog.

So I'm already packed, my lists are made...so we don't forget anything that is needed. An itinerary is in place...but not set in stone. Mike thinks I'm going to "plan" our vacation to death...I had to remind him that this is my vacation and he is just a fortunate person to be attending with me...hehehehe. So I will be celebrating my 39th in Vegas with those that I share such a special bond with.

Camp, Camping and boats...

Have all been a part of this week! Did I mention surgery, gourmet ice cream and put-put? Well yeah...that has all been this week too.

Monday was the beginning of camp. T-Man left for Children's Camp in the "Wee Hours of the Morn" and Nichole and Lil'Man began Sports Camp with a local sports ministry called CIA Sports Club (www.ciasportsclub.net). At first Lil'Man did NOT want to go...as a matter of fact he became a master of fake tears. But when I picked them up and asked how it was the response was, "AWESOME!!!!". So it was a good week for camp.

Tuesday was all about "THE GIRL". As you may recall this past December she slammed her face into a flat black pole in the dark in front of the dance studio. Well on Tuesday she had a laser procedure done on the scar. She may have to have one more, but we'll see in about 4 weeks. After we were done we went out for some gourmet ice cream. It was very delicious! If you are ever on St. Simons Island, GA...I highly recommend MOO COW CREAMERY!!

Wednesday I was SPENT! By the time I got the kids from sports camp I was worn out, tired and hot! Lil'Man was cranky and tired (although he denies the tired part). So we took Wednesday night off and did not go to karate or Bible Study. Instead we did homework, music class and chores...and then of course the kids wanted to play in the water sprinklers ;-)

Thursday was fun! Right after my air shift I took the kids to camp and I stayed to volunteer. I had so much fun helping out while the kids were playing ball. I had a chance to really learn more about the ministry and how God has lead Allen to this point. It is so amazing to hear others share the love of God as He reveals Himself to those around me. I am humbled by His unending love for all of us!

Friday...oh yeah...that's today! Today has been another wonderful day filled with so much. As I finished up my work and headed home, I had to stop by to see a friend. Amazed again by the stories of God's love and grace I then headed home to get the kids ready for their day. We finished up the housework, watched a little TV and then took Nichole to her friends house as she was invited to go camping. Then it was DATE TIME!

Lil'Man and I went out and had a blast (in the this South Georgia heat). First we went and played a round of Put-Put, then back to Moo Cow's for some more delicious frozen treats, and then we went down to the Marina to look at the boats. While we were there I met a wonderful retired couple, and Lil'Man and I were invited to "Come Aboard". Lil'Man was so excited because all he kept saying was, "I want to go on a boat." God answers all prayers, and this one was answered with a "Yes". Come to find out, they have been here 11 years, now retired, have a wonderful church home, and yes...listen to 90.7 WAY Radio, . So they recognized me after a few minutes of talking and we began to share more about God's goodness and how He is so faithful. Lil'Man and I were invited to take a quick cruise, but we graciously declined this go round. I needed to stay on land because it is almost time to get T-Man. The boy has been gone from me for 5 days and I am ready to see him!

Once he gets home -> it's off to Grandma's to pick some more blueberries! I just love the blueberries! Well there it is...in a nutshell. Oh yeah...did I mention it's almost my birthday? Well it is...less than 2 weeks away, and I'm looking forward to celebrating with my OkiBrats in Vegas! I am sure to post all about it, but until then...

Ezekiel 3

It has taken me 2 days to read through Ezekiel 3. I'm still not sure if I really understand everything that I read. I love how Ezekiel sits in glory for 7 days. What a glimpse of eternity!

I'm not so sure about the scroll...why did God have Ezekiel eat the scroll, as in devour? Is this a metaphor? Does that mean that Ezekiel was to read it until it was memorized, or does this mean that he literally ate the scroll, the Words of God?

Now, as God is giving instruction to Ezekiel on what he is to do and what God is going to allow and what He is going to need to be done, I wonder what Ezekiel was thinking. To know that I am thickheaded and stubborn has always seemed to be a bad thing until I read this passage. Ezekiel is "hard headed" and God uses this as an attribute, not as a hindrance. But again, God tells Ezekiel that His people's hard head is part of the problem. I take this to mean that it's not how God created you, but how you use it.

So here we are...with marching orders. Eat my words, use what you got (what I gave you), and now go sit and wait. As I look at the meat of chapter 3, I see God's character being revealed. Isn't this God's M.O.? I have seen this instruction time and again; with Abram and Sarah, with Moses, with Israel and Joseph. Again we see His character revealed this way with David, and with Joseph, Mary, Zechariah and Elizabeth.

God is God. His word says that He is the God of yesterday, today and forever (Revelation 1:8 & Hebrews 13:7-9). Knowing this to be true, then do we really expect God to be any different today?

In the Presence of God

I have made a decision to read one of the books of the prophets. I am starting with Ezekiel. Now I must be truly honest here and tell you that I have never read any of the books of the prophets. I have read a verse or a part of a chapter, but never before with intention of understanding have I intentionally tried to read a prophetic book from the Bible.

As I have begun with Ezekiel 1 I was taken back by the detail description of the Four Figures. I would be in as much awe as Ezekiel was if not more if I were to see such a vision! I am still trying to wrap my mind around all the details. Four figures, multiple wings, lightning, fire, many faces...as I was reading this my mind went to a scene in Harry Potter.

Ezekiel 2 was surprisingly short. This is where the Figures speak to Ezekiel. This is where Ezekiel receives his marching orders. This makes me wonder...if God were to come to me in such a way, first of all...would I recognize Him as who He is and second of all would I be able to follow through on the instructions that were given me?

And that gives me my thought to ponder for the day. We have already been given our marching orders...The Great Commission. Jesus tells his disciples (that includes you and me)in Matthew 28: 16-20...

But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Am I being obedient? Was Ezekiel? Please don't tell me the end of the story...I'm looking forward to seeing how Ezekiel responds to God. How will you respond to God?

All Aboard and...

full steam ahead for the weekend. I'm tired and it has not even begun yet ;-) So what is on the agenda you ask?

Well as I am wrapping up my morning on 90.7 Way Radio's Bart & Jen in the Morning, I have already prepped and sent invoices and prepared for Sunday's show! Now I just have to enjoy the rest of my air shift and then post a few envelopes. All in all, I'd say a productive and fun morning!

When I get home today it will be time to pack bags! Not for me though...for the kids. They are all getting ready for different activities. "T", my older son is preparing for his first camping trip without his older sister or younger brother. I know that he is excited, but I have to say...I'm a bit nervous. I know that I shouldn't be. I remember that my daughter went on her first long trip at age 10.

Sissy is spending the weekend with G-Ma. They are going to be working on their jewelry. She really loves making necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. She'll enjoy herself (as she always does) with my mom.

Tonight Mike is catering and so the kids, my mom and I are going to see a our local Steps of Faith dance company perform their spring production! I am really looking forward to watching these fine young men and women dance for the Lord!

Tomorrow is another day filled with much! Of course Karate and then T will be belt testing. Right after that...family photo for the directory AND then...off to drop off the Boy so he can hang with one of friends for the night. Now as to whether or not T will be staying home or hanging with a friend is yet to be determined...but either way Mike & I (maybe T) will be going to see comedian Jeff Allen. So it's going to be a full weekend.

I am really looking forward to spending quality time with my family this weekend and to also give them a "little space" to be who they are and discover more of who they are with just friends.

New Month...

and trying to have a new attitude! I have to say that I'm so thankful that last week is over and in the past, however...

it was not nearly as overwhelming as I was anticipating. I guess you could say that this is a lesson learned. Anxiety is a tricky feeling and I prefer to not let it get the better of me. I was reminded about half way through last Thursday of this Bible Verse...

MATTHEW 11:28-30, “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

I remember that after I had posted my last blog that I had to intentionally give my fear and anxiety to the Lord. I have to tell you though that this is much easier said than done, but I do remember having a quiet peace after I turned it all over and said, "OK...this is all on YOU, Jesus. I can't do this day without you." And I have to say that the day went much better than I could have hoped for. I was on time for everything & we really enjoyed the end of school celebrations!

I again was reminded of another passage in the Bible...

Philippians 4:10-14, "But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked opportunity. Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my affliction."

I believe that many people are very familiar with verse 14, but I want us to focus on the previous verses... I have learned to be CONTENT in whatever circumstances I am. These words are like air to me. Knowing that I can be and need to be content in HIM and not worry about what is going on around me.

Over the weekend I did really enjoy spending time with my family. We really had a blast! Karate on Saturday was good. Thomas was baptized on Sunday and Nichole was part of Youth Sunday Service.

It was such a spirit led morning!

Afterward we hung treated the kids to lunch out & then back to the church for wet fun. Later Sunday evening we went to my MIL's church for 5th Sunday sing. Dinner was good and the music was worshipful. I even got "called out" to lead a song. It was all great fun.

Monday we picked blueberries and had a cookout together with both sets of Grandparents and swam in the pool. Oh Yeah...and the boys both got haircuts!! What a wonderful time of rest.

So beginning yesterday my "Life" schedule has changed...I am now up at 0500 and to work by 0530. Upside, I'm home by 0915 so I can get the kids where they need to be for summer activities and to keep myself on track I have 2 designated days a week for meetings. This new "Life" schedule is all of God's doing, none of mine because I would not have been able to orchestrate all the details that have fallen into place.

I suppose the moral of my story is this...Let Go and Let God!

It's all a blur

From day to day I feel like I'm on auto pilot and I really don't like that feeling. I want to live a life with intention, with purpose, with desire and joy. I don't think I've been living that way for the past couple of weeks. My days seemed to be filled with obligations and must dos. I know that I set my own schedule...to a point...but my desire is to not have so many obligations. I know that this is a very temporary feeling...and it's just that...a feeling. But anxiety is nothing to take lightly.

You see, I have this longing to just sit and be with God. I would love to do nothing more than spend hours in His Word and to sit quietly and listen to God and feel the Holy Spirit move me. This desire fights with my daily life as a wife, mother, and professional. I love that I work in ministry, but it is not the same as just sitting and being with God.

I have learned that there is a time and a season for everything in life. I have to believe and trust that I will have that time to just sit and be with God for long periods of time. My prayer is to be content with where I am right now, even if it does cause me to feel overwhelmed and anxious. I had never imagined that my life would be filled with so much love and joy, but I also never imagined it to be filled with so much business.

My prayer is to take the day one moment at a time and to "schedule" in downtime, and have no guilt over the downtime. Yeah, I believe I can (and should) do that.

"Click"...A week in review...

since I was so terrible at really posting any blogs this week. I have to say I think that this week really went in a blur from one day to the next and that I really have not had time to stop to think through all of the moments that made up my days.

Last weekend Mike and I stowed away to Charleston for a quick get away. The boys stayed with one friend and the girl stayed with another friend. Charleston was, as always, a wonderful stay. We stopped in and ate at Hominy Grill. The food was just delicious! Mike bought the cookbook for our trip souvenir.

We were able to see Mike's sister while on our quick trip! His sister, B, lives in Arizona, but was training in Charleston. The timing could not have been more perfect! We had a very nice (and rather "fancy") dinner at a French Restaurant down on King's Street and we had an enjoyable time.

Sunday we had "Home Church" with some friends. I have never been apart of a home church before. It was nice. The study was in depth and I learned a few things...as I should every time I'm in the Word of God. It seems that there is still more to learn from the book of Ephesians.

As for the rest of this week...well it rushed by in a hurry! The girl had choir practice a couple of times this week, and head colds have been abound in the house. I'm fighting a major sinus block right now. This is day 2 of cold medicine. YUCK! They always make me feel so loopy! OK, so it has otherwise been a "normal" work week. You know filled with Doomsday Prophecy and joyous kids getting ready to celebrate another school year gone. As for me...I left wondering...where is the time going...

As I was laying in the bed yesterday afternoon (remember I told you...medicine), the movie "Click" came on. So I watched it. I realize, as I'm watching this movie, that it really hits home, not just for me, but for thousands! What are we chasing? Why are we chasing whatever it is we are chasing? I do believe that is a question that all of us must ask ourselves time and again.

So "fast forward" to today. AAhhh...today...Friday...the automatic "pick me up" of the week. AS for me...I'm still on medicine and wishing upon wishing that I was sick enough to stay in the bed, all the while knowing that I'm not. Work went well (I think) and thankfully I was able to push off my appointments until Monday, but one date I had to keep. That was the date with my first born son. We had set a "Date Night" 2 weeks ago, and I was not going to disappoint my son. Especially after watching that movie, Click, TWICE!! I think maybe God is trying to tell me something here...

...I had already missed my youngest son's "Field Day" and my older son's "Field Day" and I have had to miss several school activities this year. Does this make me a bad mom? I don't think so, but it does make me "pause" for a moment to make me prioritize what is important. So I have made arrangements to take next Friday off from work to be with my family as it is their "Last Day of School" and we have all the last day of school stuff to do. So with that, I'm happy.

So there it is...my crazy life wrapped up for the week. All the happy, sad, angry, fearful, a-ha moments all tied up in this blog...well not really, but hey...don't we all really just want the highlights?

Manners...what manners?

As a parent I am torn between when I should correct my children, or when to just "let it go". Have you ever been there? My philosophy is to correct the correctable...like manners, character, and discipline of mind, body, and thought. This can seem to be an overwhelming task at times, so when I find great practical advice I like to share it with those around me. I hope you find some of these to be helpful.

Your children may not even realize that how they are behaving is wrong or rude. Many times the behavior that they are displaying isn't even intentional. Sometimes kids just don't realize it's impolite to interrupt, pick their nose, or loudly observe another persons physical features.

In the hustle and bustle of daily life, busy moms and dads don't always have the time to focus on etiquette. I do find these 25 must have manners to be important not just for my children, but for me as well.

Manner #1: When asking for something, say "Please."

Manner #2: When receiving something, say "Thank you."

Manner #3: Do not interrupt another conversation in progress unless there is an emergency. They will notice you and respond when they are finished talking.

Manner #4: If you do need to get somebody's attention right away, the phrase "excuse me" is the most polite way for you to enter the conversation.

Manner #5: When you have any doubt about doing something, ask permission first. It can save you from many hours of grief later.

Manner #6: The world is not interested in what you dislike. Keep negative opinions to yourself, or between you and your close friends, and out of earshot of others.

Manner #7: Do not comment on other people's physical characteristics unless, of course, it's to compliment them, which is always welcome.

Manner #8: When people ask you how you are, tell them and then ask them how they are.

Manner #9: When you have spent time at a friend's house, remember to thank them for having you over and for the good time you had.

Manner #10: Knock on closed doors -- and wait to see if there's a response -- before entering.

Manner #11: When you make a phone call, introduce yourself first and then ask if you can speak with the person you are calling.

Manner #12: Be appreciative and say "thank you" for any gift you receive. In the age of e-mail, a handwritten thank-you note can have a powerful effect.

Manner #13: Never use foul language. People already know all those words, and they find them boring and unpleasant.

Manner #14: Don't call people mean names.

Manner #15: Do not make fun of anyone for any reason. Teasing shows others you are weak, and ganging up on someone else is cruel.

Manner #16: Even if a play or an assembly is boring, sit through it quietly and work on being interested. The performers and presenters are doing their best.

Manner #17: If you bump into somebody, immediately say "Excuse me."

Manner #18: Cover your mouth when you cough or sneeze, and don't pick your nose in public.

Manner #19: As you walk through a door, look to see if you can hold it open for someone else.

Manner #20: If you come across someone working on something, ask if you can help. If they say "yes," do so -- you may learn something new.

Manner #21: When someone asks you for a favor or for help, do it without grumbling and with a smile.

Manner #22: When someone helps you, say "thank you." That person will likely want to help you again.

Manner #23: Use eating utensils properly and do not talk with food in your mouth. If you are unsure of which fork or spoon to use, watch what the others are doing around you.

Manner #24: Keep a napkin on your lap; use it to wipe your mouth when necessary.

Manner #25: Don't reach for things at the table; ask to have them passed.

Happy Birthday Coca Cola!

In honor of Coca Cola Company's Birthday I wanted to post one of the recipes is just simply delicious! Here's to another 125 years!!

1 box of chocolate cake mix
1 can of Diet Coke
1 small package of instant sugar-free pudding mix
1 8-ounce container of fat-free chilled whipped topping
Mix cake mix and Diet Coke together. Bake in an oil-sprayed 9 x 13 pan. Cook at
350 degrees for approximately 45 minutes until slightly underdone. Cool.
FROSTING
Put 1 small package of sugar-free, fat-free instant chocolate pudding mix into one
8-ounce container of fat-free chilled whipped topping. Mix well. Frost the cake and
cut into squares.
They taste like brownies, but without all the fat!

National Day...

of Prayer is today. I am thankful that we have the opportunity to come together to pray as a nation. I do want to encourage you to not just pray today, but to pray everyday. Our God is I AM, God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. So many times we come together to pray during crisis, special occasions, or in this case as a one day event. My heart cry is that you come to know The Lord in a very real and personal way. To spend time with Him each day in prayer.

May I encourage you today with some scripture? Maybe, just maybe you are unsure as to how to pray. I remember asking that question many years ago, and a very wise mentor told me, "Jennifer, if you are not sure what to pray, then pray through scripture." How comforting those words were to me! So with that wisdom, I say the same to you. Here are a few passages to pray if you are not sure where to begin.

James 5:16, Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

1 Timothy 2:1-4, 1 I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people— 2 for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. 3 This is good, and pleases God our Savior, 4 who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.

Philippians 4:6-7, Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ([a]definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God. 7And God's peace [shall be yours, that [b]tranquil state of a soul assured of its salvation through Christ, and so fearing nothing from God and being content with its earthly lot of whatever sort that is, that peace] which transcends all understanding shall [c]garrison and mount guard over your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 15:29, The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the [consistently] righteous (the upright, in right standing with Him).

1 John1:9, If we [freely] admit that we have sinned and confess our sins, He is faithful and just (true to His own nature and promises) and will forgive our sins [dismiss our lawlessness] and [continuously] cleanse us from all unrighteousness [everything not in conformity to His will in purpose, thought, and action].

I know that...

Mother's Day is right around the corner, but I just want to say how much I love my Dad! For many many years, my dad was lost. Lost in his sin, lost in this world, and it was not always easy to talk with him and sometimes I really did not like him. To be honest those feelings have long since been gone. I remember the day that my mom called to tell me that my dad was going to church. I also remember the day that she called to tell me that my dad had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior!

My sister, husband and I went to church the day my dad was baptized and I remember crying for joy as I watched my dad become a new man in Christ! Now let's fast forward to last week...yup last week. My dad was asked to preach this past Sunday. It was a very surreal moment for me when he was in my living room telling me what his sermon was going to be on and I could see in his eyes how excited and yet uncertain he was. I can't think of a time when I was so proud to be his daughter!
What's even cooler is that he shared part of his sermon was on. He was preaching on John 16: 12-15 and it was titled "Can You Hear Me Now?". Now what my dad used during his sermon was a fun, not really practical, but fun illustration of Senior Text Lingo. I liked it so much that I'm posting it here for you.

Now I'm sure that I could have just posted the txt part, but I wanted to share where my dad has come from and where God is taking him. It's so exciting to watch God work!

Current Events...

of yesterday left me almost speechless. I had to really digest all the news about Osama Bin Laden. For a decade his name alone had brought terror, fear, anger, and rage to many. For others the name meant freedom, change, radical thought and possibility. For me...it has been an ongoing part of life. I remember being in Okinawa when the Gulf War first began. I was 18 when the air strikes began. My dearest friends, Marines, were sent to "The Desert". My dad was also sent to "The Desert". That was and is the military way of life.

So my forethought has always been what is going on in the Middle East, only my thoughts are not of oil, or terrorism. My thoughts have always been on those that are fighting a fight that, seems at times, uncertain. I have often wondered why we meddle in foreign affairs, but again...that is what we do, so I pray for our military that are on foreign soil.

When September 11th happened...I remember where I was, what I was doing and I really could not believe my eyes. Hence the hunt for the past ten years. Like I said, this is nothing new to me, but my heart was torn out and stepped on when the towers fell.

Fast forward to yesterday...the boys had a capture or kill order, and kill they did. It is never easy to take a life...as a matter of fact, it is life changing, no matter who you are or how it is done. Again, my heart broke, but for a different reason this time. My heart broke because, according to God's Word, not only was a life lost, but so was a soul, to live apart from God. This is what truly breaks my heart. When the towers fell, my heart cried out for those civilians, who were not part of the war, as their lives were cut short. I remember praying for them and their families. So much pain and loss...and anger. To many it seemed easy for the "terrorist" to kill so many, but I wonder (often) what was going through their minds before the act was carried out.

I know that there was much rejoicing and celebrating about the death of Bin Laden, but I also know that all life is precious, all life is a gift by God. I know that the enemy comes upon us and there are physical and spiritual battles; however I was reminded of this

Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice.
Proverbs 24:17.

I did not blog yesterday on the events, as I said, I was really unsure of how I felt about the events. My concern now...what will happen next? I'm sure many people are wondering the same thing. I take comfort in knowing that God is in control and that He is ever present & the God of Today is the God of Yesterday and Tomorrow. He is I AM, and I take comfort in knowing that.

My final thought...pray. Pray for our troops, for those who desire war and death. Pray for our leaders and for those who are stuck in a situation that they have no control over...pray that they will come to know the True and Living God.

Do you have trouble with FIRE ANTS?

I live in Southeast Georgia and FIRE ANTS are everywhere! Even with a professional treating my yard for these insufferable creatures, they still "pop" up (seemingly overnight). Now I have three very active children and 1 dog who loves to lick everything he can, so I have been searching for a non-toxic method to kill these pesky creatures that seem to constantly invade my yard. And I have finally found one and so I want to share with you the link that I found as I "Googled" my question for my quest to kill in a "humane" way and let you know that I have had success with this recipe.

I wish I...

had learned more about computers when I was in school! My computer has a "Hidden File" somewhere that decided to mess up my Outlook yesterday afternoon. I am however, very thankful for people who know computers! I just hope that it does not take long to "fix" the problem. It is hard to be at work w/ no email ability. It sort of hinders my work performance!

On the upside...my computer works and is not in any danger of crashing -> Blessing!

This past week I have been seeking out where God is blessing people. Not just me, but others around me. I find it to be very important to actively look for blessings, because so many times they are in disguise of "everyday life". When something seems to be going all kinds of wrong, it's great to LOOK for the things that are going right! I know that many people would call this being optimistic, but I call it Looking for Blessings.

Luke 11:13 says,

If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!

So I am looking for the blessing that is coming from my computer not working right, and I pray that I will realize when I see it. So much does God give to us and do for us, I pray that you will look for the blessings too.

Psalm 98:4says,

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!

While you can never completely "audit-proof" your business's income tax return, you can take actions that will greatly reduce your chances of being flagged.

Here are 10 ways to avoid a tax audit:

1. Choose your tax return preparer with care. Today, according to the recent National Taxpayer Advocate report, 60% of individuals and even a greater percentage of businesses use paid preparers to do their income tax returns. Yet, preparers now face more intense IRS review. If the IRS believes a preparer is claiming unwarranted deductions or taking other fraudulent steps on clients' returns, then the preparer's clients are at risk for audit.

The IRS has eight tips for choosing a tax preparer. Key among them is to check the preparer's history to see if there has been any disciplinary action. For example, if you use an enrolled agent, check with the IRS' office of Professional Responsibility at opr@irs.gov (include the preparer's name and address).

2. Report all of your income. The IRS uses information returns, such as W-2s and 1099s, to cross-check income reporting. Under its document-matching program, the IRS' computers compare information on the forms with the income reported by taxpayers on their returns. If the information doesn't match, this leads to an automatic audit. But don't panic; it's merely a correspondence asking about the discrepancy. It can be easily cleared up by submitting an explanation by mail if you think you are correct, or paying the tax owed if the omission was your oversight and the IRS is correct.

Sole proprietors, freelancers and independent contractors who use the cash method of accounting may be vulnerable to year-end payment problems. For instance, a sole proprietor that performed work for a client may have received a payment in early January -- but the client might have mailed (and recorded) the payment in December. The client will include the payment on Form 1099-MISC for 2010, but it isn't taxable until 2011. What to do: Include the payment as it is reported on the 2010 return, but then subtract the payment and attach an explanation with the return. Then include the payment on the 2011 return, even though no 1099 will be issued for this year.

3. Provide complete information. All questions should be answered and all required information should be included on the forms and schedules necessary for your return. That means if you're a sole proprietor, include your business code number, accounting method, and, where applicable, inventory valuation method on Schedule C. If information is missing, it could trigger a more extensive look at the return.

Also add information where necessary to explain entries or omissions that are not easily understood -- such as in the prior example, when income received in January is reported on a prior year 1099.

4. Avoid claiming deductions that are audit red flags. This advice is easy to give, but unfortunately, the IRS does not say which deductions are likely to provoke a closer look. There are no official audit red flags. While many warn that claiming a home office deduction can prompt an audit, there's no proof of this. If you meet the qualifications for claiming a home-office deduction, there's no good reason not to take the write-off. Check your eligibility in IRS Publication 587, Business Use of Your Home.

A number of years ago, the Government Accountability Office (formerly the General Accounting Office) compiled statistics on deductions claimed by sole proprietors to show the types of deductions relative to the amount of their revenue. Some tax professionals believe that taking more than the "average" can raise an IRS eyebrow, but again, there is no concrete support for this view. A business that is entitled to deductions, even if they are high relative to the amount of their income, should claim them -- but be prepared to prove entitlement if the return is questioned.

5. Don't file certain forms or schedules. Some optional forms and schedules virtually guarantee an audit. For example, if you turn a hobby into a sideline and show a business loan, the IRS may question whether some of your deductions are legitimate. If that happens, you might file a Form 5213, which keeps the IRS from auditing you for the first five years of the business. If you can show that you're profitable in at least three of the years, then the business isn't a hobby and the losses in the other years aren't questioned. The problem: Filing the form virtually guarantees an examination at the end of five years.

Better way: If you have loss years, be prepared to prove that you are operating the activity with a profit motive.

6. Pay attention to details. Math errors or incorrect entries of Social Security numbers or tax identification numbers can easily trigger an inquiry into your return. Math errors can be greatly reduced by electronic filing rather than filing paper returns. In the past, the IRS had said that errors are less than 1% on returns that are filed electronically, compared with about 20% on returns submitted via paper. If an e-filed return has a math error, it won't be accepted; instead it is sent back for correction and refiling.

But information on electronically filed returns is only as good as the information you submit. Reporting $2,000 in income when it should have been $20,000 is your mistake and one that likely won't be noticed as a math error by a computer.

7. Mind your personal entries. If there are entries related to the personal side of your return, this can ultimately lead to scrutiny of your return activities. The IRS selects returns for audit in some cases based on a Discriminant Function System or DIF score, which is based on IRS experience with taxpayers claiming certain deductions or credits within set income levels. For example, if you claim charitable contributions that are higher than the average deductions for your income level, this could lead to a personal audit; the personal audit may be expanded to include your business activities.

8. Change your business status. IRS Statistics show that you are 10 times as likely to be audited as a Schedule C filer than if you incorporate your business and elect S corporation status. While it costs a bit of money to incorporate, the move affords you greater personal liability protection and reduces your chances of being audited. In deciding whether to change your business status, include both tax and non-tax factors.

Note: Forming a limited liability company for one owner will not give you any audit protection, because the owner still files a Schedule C.

9. Watch your state tax return. The IRS has information-sharing agreements with the states. If you are audited at the state level and owe additional taxes because of omitting income or for other reasons, this information is shared with the IRS. The information may then prompt the IRS to contact you asking for additional tax payment or to audit your return in more depth.

10. Plan for an audit, just in case. Because the IRS conducts random audits from time to time (such as a three-year random audit program for S corporations in 2007 and a current three-year random audit program for employment tax returns), any return could be selected for review at any time. Be prepared:

• Compile good books and records for your business activities.

• Retain required receipts and other documentation.

• Use separate bank accounts and credit cards for your business and personal activities.

Retain the records and receipts for your tax return for a minimum of three years (the period in which the IRS usually has to audit a return). However, keep in mind that the period becomes six years if 25% or more of income is omitted from the return, and there is no limit when it comes to fraud.

Overwhelmed by Gods Goodness

If you do not follow me on Facebook or listen to me on 90.7 WAY Radio, Bart & Jen in the Morning, then this is new news for you, but let me tell you that I am more posting this blog so the next time I have doubt or fear I can come back and read about this day and His Glory & Love.

I can only share as I know how...by being me, so here it is...in all its crazy randomness...

THE BACK STORY

November 2010: My car starting having many many problems that went unresolved. While it was in the shop, a friend of mine, Tammy, let me borrow her car for the week that my car was in the shop. We got the car back the day before Thanksgiving. 1 week after Thanksgiving a piece of the engine ended up in my oil pan! How that happened, I will never know.

December 2010: Mike and I make an "executive" decision...sell the junk car for scrap. We refuse at this point to pour any more money into this car. We are officially a one car family! Shortly after that, the radio station is blessed with a station van!! Wow! We are just overwhelmed with the graciousness of our listeners who pulled this all together. With Luke's blessing I am able to use the station van once a week for meetings and take it home. That to me, is a blessing, and I am so thankful.

Bart tells me that he is going to pray that God provides us with a car. I thank him for praying that prayer for us. I am still trying to dig out of the hole that we got put in trying to nurse a dead car back to life. Many people blessed us w/ food cards and food to get us through the holidays. Again, I am so overwhelmed with the love that is poured out on us by God through His people.

January-March 2011: Mike and I are in a routine. We get up, boys on the bus, drop off the girl, drop me off at work, he picks me up at lunch (except Tuesday & Thursday), I pick him up in the afternoon. It has caused shorten hours, and a lot of juggling, but in the end we are making this arrangement work. Tuesdays I have the station van and Thursdays I rely on friends and family to get me home. It's working. There are days, of course, that we really hate only having one car, but we thank God for that car & that it is running without issues.

April 2011: We are starting to save up money for another vehicle. My gratitude is still in tact during this time of circumstance. Every Sunday I lift my hand when the preacher asks, "Does anyone here today have a need?". I pray not for someone to give us a car, but rather that in His time and in His way that we not be greedy with a car. I just want a good used reliable vehicle. We continue to give to those we can give to in our own way. We tithe, we save, and we pray.

THE REST OF THE STORY

So yesterday...Tuesday. I have a BNI meeting, and as I am going out to the station van, I am just thanking God that I am able to use the van. I thank Him that he always provides, in His way, and that I am always able to do what needs to be done. I thank Him, again. So blessed despite what others may see. I know that God is watching over me.

3:30pm: We are finishing up at the school. I am waiting on the bus that my girl is on so I can get us home and ready for the afternoon and my phone rings. It's my friend, Nicole. I thought she was calling about the Pampered Chef order that was just shipped out. (Yes Nicole is my Pampered Chef connection!!). But that was not why she called...she called to see if we still needed a vehicle. I said, yes we do, but we don't have enough money saved up just yet. We probably won't be able to buy a car for several more months. She says that she is not looking to sell, but to give her van and she knew that we needed another vehicle.

I am immediately thinking that I heard her wrong! What? Really? Give us a car? Whoa...where is this coming from! Yes!! Oh my, YES!!! Now I'm in tears! What a gift! I am thanking Nicole, praising God, and in total shock. Not shock in a bad way, more like when you get the positive sign on the pregnancy test kind of shock.

So here it is today...I have a minivan in my driveway and I will be getting it registered & insured today and begin to get the few minor things that need to be done, done.

So this is just a wonderful reminder of God's love for us, His children, how He provides for not just our needs, but for us. If ever I had a waver of doubt in my faith in God, it is once again been destroyed. He is faithful!!!

I know...it's been

a week since my last blog. Last week I was on Spring Break with the kids and to be honest with you as much as I wanted to write & blog, I wanted to read and hang with my children more.

Now it's Tuesday. I have been back to work a whole 2 days now & to be honest...it is so good to be here. I love what I do! Now I am currently reading this book that is really helping me (and probably not the way that you'd expect). I am reading Eat, Pray, Love and I have already watched the movie. The book, however (as usual), is so much better. Now for me, I am more on the journey of learning how to live without guilt over pleasure and I am really enjoying the perspective that Liz has.

OK...so that is only part of my journey. The second part of my journey is music. Music, music, music! I have moved my radio/stereo/record player back into the living room and I'm so hungry for the sound of music that I am enjoying all the music that I have not listened to in such a while. I'm very excited about the last couple of albums that have come out as well.

I am looking forward to hearing the complete album of Mandisa & there is 2 more albums out today. Jonny Diaz & Laura Story. So if you love inspirational music with a message I highly encourage you to check out these 3 albums.

Not going to promise I'll blog again this week, but I will do my best. I know that this is going to be a jammed pack week & I must get at least 4 P90X workouts in by Saturday!

This week & MIT's

Well this week I am taking Spring Break w/ the kids. This was a hard decision for me because I really don't like missing work. I love what I do. But I do love being home too. I am blessed to be a mom that is for sure.

Taking to heart what I've been learning in Sunday School I have implimented my MIT's (Most Important Things) for this week. And I am sure that I'll get them all done.

Today is fairly simple: Laundry, Blog, Meeting & P90X -> I have completed the blog, working on the laundry (2 loads done 2 to go) and my meeting is at 1pm. I have completed a few other items as well...basic stuff like dishes, making the tea and reading Proverbs 4 to the children.

So for Tuesday...Devotion with the kids & then the kids and I get to go through all their cloths and pull out all the winter cloths & donate the cloths that Nichole & Logan have outgrown. That will be an all day ordeal. I also need to call the paper and put the bed & dresser in the for sale section. Then spend quiet time in the evening w/ Mike as the kids are having dinner with their Nanny & Pappy and do our P90X

Wednesday...Beach Day with the youth group. I am looking forward to that! Nothing else on the agenda and I refuse to feel guilty about that! I will have to do my P90X routine early in the morning.

Thursday...home all day -> paperwork, reading and bible study are on the agenda and then P90X with Mike when he gets home.

Friday...will start w/ Bible Study and then go into the station for about an hour, hour & a half and then the kids and I will have lunch w/ Mike on the island...then spend the day at the park so the kids can have a little fun. And of course round out the day with P90X when Mike gets home.

Well that is the game plan anyway...we'll see if it works out that way ;-) You know what they say about your plans v. God's plans for you. They seldom ever match up, unless it is that you ask Him first what it is that you should be doing. I really am looking forward to the week and all that is waiting.

When you ask...

Jesus to use you, be ready! I knew when I completely surrendered my life to Christ that it would be a challenge and not easy. (Romans 7:25)

Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature[a] a slave to the law of sin.

I honestly thought that I had no comfort zone, but it seems that every time I get "comfortable", God changes the direction in which I am going or He intercedes personally by allowing me to encounter a life that is going through a struggle, and it "interferes" with "my life". So I have come to the understanding I will never be comfortable, and I am becoming OK with that. I have also come to realize that if I am in a state of being comfortable, then I am not growing spiritually. (Psalm 119:2)

Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart

Last night during Bible study as we were going over the passage in Ephesians 4, I came to a deeper understanding of why we are gifted. The Word says, that He gifts us so that we can equip the saints, God's people. We are not to use the Gifts that He has given according to His Will and abuse them for selfish reasons, but to use them to help those in need, those who are seeking God, and to lift up those who are called the Children of God. (Ephesians 4: 11-13)

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

I have so much to learn. The most important is to continue to be less of me so that more of Jesus comes through. It is a daily struggle and when I am put under the fire, so to speak, I want to run and say NOPE! Not me! It doesn't work that way because I freely gave my life up to serve, and that means to go where He leads, and do His Will even when I don't want to. It is a daily struggle, but one that is worth it all. (John 3:30)

He must become greater; I must become less

I hope that you are encouraged today, but if not, if you are discouraged, know that you are not alone & that you will get through this uncomfortable moment. Christ Jesus will work out what it is that you are going through, if you allow Him to do so and He will work out for His Glory & His Purpose. (Romans 8:28)

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Man am I...

sore! I have to say that this new journey with Mike and P90X is good, but man...I did not realize just how out of shape I really was...well am. I must say that I have been very impressed with each routine so far and I know that I like the fact that each day is a new routine...so Mike or I won't get board. AND I have watched the infomercial for P90X. I have to say that I am impressed with the testimonials that I heard. I of course found P90X on Facebook...well because it's Facebook...and I wanted to see other testimonies. My goal is to be a good example for my children, and to get more fit. Not only w/ the P90X, but also with karate, walking and of course...when I can...the gym. The best thing about this so far...Mike & I are doing this together. That truly makes me happy! OK...so day 4 down only 26 days to goal #1. One day at a time...one pound at a time...that is my battle cry!

Oh...and I know I need to take the pictures...and I will...but I don't think I'll post them until day 30.
