Life

Each step of life is a journey that you choose to walk.

Each moment of life is another line, sentence, paragraph and chapter of the book called your life.

Enjoy all that life has to offer, good friends, good food, good coffee and as always wisdom and a good laugh.

The best invention of our time is...

So the question was asked this morning on Bart & Jen in the Morning, What is the best invention of our time? We had several calls, but Jim's call was the top! The microchip! Without it we would not have any of the tools we have today. So the question was asked...who invented the microchip? Well here's the answer, thanks to about.com

The History of the Integrated Circuit aka Microchip
Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce

integrated circuit
"What we didn't realize then was that the integrated circuit would reduce the cost of electronic functions by a factor of a million to one, nothing had ever done that for anything before" - Jack Kilby

The Integrated Circuit
It seems that the integrated circuit was destined to be invented. Two separate inventors, unaware of each other's activities, invented almost identical integrated circuits or ICs at nearly the same time.

Jack Kilby, an engineer with a background in ceramic-based silk screen circuit boards and transistor-based hearing aids, started working for Texas Instruments in 1958. A year earlier, research engineer Robert Noyce had co-founded the Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation. From 1958 to 1959, both electrical engineers were working on an answer to the same dilemma: how to make more of less.

Why the Integrated Circuit Was Needed
In designing a complex electronic machine like a computer it was always necessary to increase the number of components involved in order to make technical advances. The monolithic (formed from a single crystal) integrated circuit placed the previously separated transistors, resistors, capacitors and all the connecting wiring onto a single crystal (or 'chip') made of semiconductor material. Kilby used germanium and Noyce used silicon for the semiconductor material.

Patents for the Integrated Circuit
In 1959 both parties applied for patents. Jack Kilby and Texas Instruments received U.S. patent #3,138,743 for miniaturized electronic circuits. Robert Noyce and the Fairchild Semiconductor Corporation received U.S. patent #2,981,877 for a silicon based integrated circuit. The two companies wisely decided to cross license their technologies after several years of legal battles, creating a global market now worth about $1 trillion a year.

Romans 1

As I read and reread Romans 1 I was taken back by the later part of the chapter. Before coming to really know Christ and actually trying to follow him, I always knew there was a right and a wrong. I usually did what I wanted, and not really cared about what happen, but I still knew, and I often have been asked, "How do you know what is right and what is wrong?", well now I know and I will always direct the question to Romans 1:20

For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.

Now I have to say that the last part of the chapter is what has me all tied up in knots. Not because I don't agree with what is written, but because of the way "Christians" us this passage of scripture to pass their personal judgment and hate.
For me I want to show God's love, grace & forgiveness. John 3:16 says
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

WHOEVER...that means anyone who comes to Jesus and asks for forgiveness & I know that Jesus can change lives. I've seen it happen to many times to say otherwise or deny. I can't deny. So why do Christians deny "sinners" by judging instead of sharing. This is my own thoughts on this passage. God's word is clear, however, that we are all sinners and that all of us have to deal with many of the "sins" that are listed in the last part of Romans 1.

My prayer is to look only at myself and ask God to show me my faults and work only on my own faults & to have grace and mercy to give to others instead of looking for their faults. If you are at a place in your life where you know that "there's something out there", but you don't know what "it" is, may I encourage you to pick up a Bible and go to the New Testament and read Romans chapter 1.

Super Bowl Commericails...

were the true winners this year! I have to say I missed a lot of them because I was "banned" from the living room due to superstition. See all season I missed 1st quarter, so as I was sitting down to watch the game (during 1st quarter), our team began to look real bad...so my husband of 15 years...told me to "get out!"...trust me...it was out of love (for the Steelers) so I complied!

Since I missed most of the commercials, I had my top 3 of the ones I say, but I found this website,http://superbowlads.fanhouse.com, and it has all the Super Bowl commercials on there. So have fun watching them whether it's your first viewing or your one hundreth...enjoy!
